Government Contracting with Small Business. In Fiscal Year 2002, the federal government issued 11.4 million
contracts, 10.8 million of which were between $2,500 and $100,000.
Many of these smaller contracts are reserved for small businesses.
The Government actively seeks out good, qualified small businesses
to be its suppliers. Government prime contracting goals include
23% to small businesses, including 5% to small disadvantaged
businesses, 5% to small women-owned businesses, 3% to HUBZone
small businesses, 3% to small service-disabled, veteran-owned
business, and 7% to other small businesses.
